NSW Active Travel Charter for Children
On October 23 2014, the NSW Minister for Mental Health and Assistant Minister for Health, Jai Rowell MP officially launched a new NSW Active Travel Charter for Children at the international Walk 21 conference in Sydney. This Charter is an overarching statement on active travel for children in NSW, which will support government and non-government agencies to encourage greater participation of children in active travel.
In consultation with the Department of Education and Communities and Transport for NSW, the NSW Office of Preventive Health has developed new resources to support Children’s Active Travel. Resources for parents and communities, and a template for developing a Travel Plan, are available from the Healthy Kids web-site at http://www.healthykids.nsw.gov.au/campaigns-programs/childrens-active-travel.aspx
